Shaping Space in Dialogue with Snøhetta’s Architectural Vision

Led by Norwegian architecture studio Snøhetta, the new interior intervention at the Oslo Opera House brings together a carefully curated selection of furniture in dialogue with the building’s architectural vision, materiality and sense of place.

For the project, Kasper Thorup—founder and furniture designer at Thorup Copenhagen—developed Anto, a bespoke room divider conceived specifically for the Opera House interiors. Designed as an architectural element, Anto introduces rhythm and subtle spatial boundaries within the expansive, open setting while preserving light, sightlines and movement.

Thorup Copenhagen also supplied furniture for the brasserie and new café area, including the Noel Chair upholstered in wool flag halyard and the Noel Counter Chair. The pieces complement Snøhetta’s interior scheme while supporting the flexible use of the spaces.

The project marks a significant milestone for Thorup Copenhagen, strengthening the studio’s presence within prominent architectural settings and on the international design scene.
