Because we believe that quality starts with intention, we look at every piece we make across its entire life, from how it is made to how long it lasts. Third-party certifications give us an independent way to measure that work. They keep us transparent and accountable, and they help us find where we can do better.
Choice of materials
Every certification begins with the materials. We work with a considered palette: solid oak, stainless steel, solid brass, and linen and wool flag halyard. Each one is chosen for how it is made, how it ages and how long it lasts. Our oak is certified and comes from responsibly managed forests. Our flag halyard wool is pure and undyed, sourced from free-roaming sheep on the Faroe Islands.
Close-to-home production
Since our launch in Copenhagen in 2018, we have built a close-to-home production chain, primarily based in Denmark. We work with a small circle of trusted partners and local artisans, and we combine traditional and innovative production techniques.
Our pieces are made to order, which means we produce what is needed and wanted rather than overproducing.
Keeping production close lets us follow every step, secure the highest quality and work in close collaboration throughout the process. It also nurtures a more mindful way of making furniture, one rooted in genuine craftsmanship and made to last.
EU Ecolabel certification
The EU Ecolabel is the official environmental label of the European Union. It is awarded to products that meet rigorous environmental criteria throughout their entire life cycle, from the sourcing of raw materials to production, use and disposal. It also sets strict requirements for harmful substances and for durability.
The Noel Chair Series is certified with the EU Ecolabel. The chairs are made from high-strength stainless steel and handwrought linen or wool flag halyard. They are not treated with, nor do they contain, disinfectant biocides. Each chair is tested to meet L1 standards for endurance (EN1022:2005 and EN16139:2013) and comes with a five-year warranty. Worn parts can be replaced, and the key materials can be separated for recycling.
